Dolomite Minerals

Srinath Enterprises provides pure and effective Dolomite Minerals that are rock-forming minerals with a chemical composition of CaMg(CO3)2. They are double carbonates with the structural arrangement of calcium and magnesium ions. They crystallize in the trigonal-rhombohedral system to form gray, white, tan, or pink crystals. They can be easily dissolved by slightly acidic water; hence they are used important aquifers that contribute to the formation of karst terrain. These minerals are provided with the sub-vitreous, resinous, vitreous, waxy and pearly luster with the hardness of 3½ - 4 and Specific Gravity of 2.84 - 2.86.

These Dolomite Minerals have three directions of perfect cleavage that can be observed, when they are coarsely crystalline. They create a weak reaction to dilute, cold hydrochloric acid. On the other hand, if the acid is warm, a much stronger acid reaction takes place.

Usages of Dolomite Minerals:

1) Used as a source of magnesia, a sintering agent and flux in the domain of metal processing, and also as an ingredient in the development of glass, bricks, etc.
2) Serves as the host rock for zinc, lead, copper and other deposits.
3) Serves as a gas and oil reservoir rock for oil and gas drilling.
4) Used as an ornamental stone, substrate in marine aquariums and a concrete aggregate.
