Ferrous Sulphate

Ferrous Sulfate, also reckoned as Green Vitriol, belongs to the pharmacological group of hematological agents and iron salts. This comes with the molecular weight of 278.00. It is a yellow-brown or greenish crystalline solid with the density of 15.0 lb /gal. It easily melts at the temperature of 64C and also loses the seven waters of hydration at the temperature of 90C. This compound of iron and sulfate is available with the ratio of iron (2+) and sulfate ions are 1:1.

Ferrous Sulfate is considered as a strong acid that is necessary to take by the body for the production of blood cells. This is a type of iron or essential body mineral. It is suggested by doctors in restless legs syndrome, general health issues and low iron levels. It is also widely used as iron supplement for treating or preventing low blood levels of iron in case of anemia or during pregnancy.

Usages of Ferrous Sulfate:

1) Used as agricultural chemicals, enzymatic additive and intermediates.
2) Used in laboratory chemicals, pigments and water treatment processes.
3) Utilized as processing aids and solid separation agents.
4) Ideal to be used as treatment or reducing agent.
